About this property

Welcome to Heatherfield House

Heatherfield House is a Victorian guesthouse established in 1875, situated on a hillside above the town of Oban. The property offers a selection of chic rooms, some featuring sea views across the bay and nearby islands. Its elevated location provides a peaceful setting while remaining within a 5-minute walk of the town centre and just 7 minutes from McCaig's Tower, making it convenient for exploring local attractions.

The guesthouse offers essential amenities catering to travelers’ practical needs, including free Wi-Fi, complimentary breakfast, and parking on site. It is both pet-friendly and kid-friendly, though it does not have a restaurant, airport shuttle, pool, or fitness center. Rooms are kept clean and comfortably decorated, although some bathrooms include shared facilities down the hall, which might be less suitable for those seeking en-suite convenience.

Guests often highlight the friendliness and hospitality of the hosts, alongside a good breakfast selection with options such as traditional Scottish fare and vegan choices. The property’s quiet location on a steep hill is appreciated by many but could present a challenge for those with mobility issues. Several reviewers recommend taking a taxi when arriving with heavy luggage or mobility concerns due to the incline.

Heatherfield House is well placed for visitors interested in local history and scenic views, with landmarks like McCaig’s Tower, Dunollie Museum, and Dunstaffnage Castle all nearby. Its blend of traditional character and practical amenities makes it a suitable option for travelers looking to experience Oban’s town centre and surrounding attractions without sacrificing comfort and convenience.

had a great stay in this superb bed and breakfast. Loved the location and character of this beautiful house. Great having private car park. The breakfast selection was very good and the new owners hospitality was lovely. Spotlessly clean, with extra towels etc available on request. Highly recommend. Thanks

We had a nice stay at Heatherfield House. The room was spacious and the mattress was very comfy. The bath was a bit impractical, but it did fit quite well with the overall look. Our host was a bit more distanced than what we're used to, but still very friendly. The location is pretty good - close to the city centre, just up a steep hill.

Really great place. Wonderful location that's peacefully, slightly removed from the busyness of downtown Oban but it's walkable within 5 minutes to the action. Great hostess was kind and welcoming. Food for breakfast was delicious. Room was very nice - clean and nicely decorated. Would love to come back anytime!

Heatherfield House was the perfect choice for spending a night in Oban. We were able to check in a little early which was great as we were able to park and head down the hill to enjoy walking the streets of Oban. Oban is a cool town with plenty of shopping and restaurants, as well as an excellent distillery, and Heatherfield House was the ideal location for getting to walk and experience it all. The breakfast staff and food was top notch as well.

Really enjoyed our one night stay. Had everything we needed. Good location and parking. Friendly welcome. Lovely comfy bed. Great shower. Tasty breakfast . (Very nice vegan black pudding) And a bonus for us dog friendly. We hope to visit again but for longer than one night.

Absolutely charming! The Inn is an historic home in Oban, with a beautiful garden and fascinating history. Owen welcomed us, even carried our bags upstairs. (A great relief on my recently repaired foot!) The room was cozy, but adequate. The bathroom was down the hall a few steps, but still private. Just a tub, no shower, but it had a hand shower. Owen’s mother, June, serves breakfast. You pick among a few good options. There are also some standard items out each day: fresh and lively cheeses, smoked salmon (lox), toast, dry cereal, milk, juice, and fruit. We chose the porridge each morning. It was wonderful! We also got croissants and tea. All top-notch and June is lovely and accommodating. The only negative is that the house sits up a very steep drive. If you have trouble walking uphill or walking on loose gravel, be sure and grab a taxi at the terminal or station! Only about 4£-5£…and worth it!

Beautiful B&B. My sister and I enjoyed our large easily accessible room in this gorgeous hillside home. Fantastic breakfast: full Scottish if you're really hungry, and many other options if you prefer something lighter. Very walkable to town and the ferries. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend staying here! Charming old B&B within easy walking to downtown Oban. There was ample parking available. We stayed in Room 2 on the upper floor. Super clean, comfy bed, nice decor, and a lovely view of town and a little corner of the harbor. There was a lovely clawfoot soaking tub. We only stayed one night which was great, but this could be an issue if you stay multiple nights as it’s a pain to scrub your hair. But for short stays and bath lovers it’s fantastic! I enjoyed a nice unwinding soak & cup of herbal tea after a long day of travel! Friendly service & there was a nice cooked breakfast selection in the AM with several options!
